Laide is an Economics graduate with an M.Sc. (Information Systems and Computing) from Brunel University and MBA from the Warwick Business School. Laide is an Associate Fellow, HEA (UK) and doctoral researcher at Aston University with focus on international trade and economic development.

Laide started his career in Corporate Banking in 2000 and was part of the pioneer banking team rising to business desk head before moving to the United Kingdom in 2005 where he has served in several strategic and programme leadership capacities for global financial institutions such as Credit Suisse, Barclays Capital and Reuters. He has grown to become a consummate financial services practitioner who has carved a solid niche as a solution provider to complex problems faced by operators across various segments of the marketplace.

He is a believer in the ability and potential of Afrika and Afrikans to free themselves from the shackles of under-development, he co-founded a commodity platform, Commodity Port providing small scale operators with access to new markets, capital and technology as a poverty and empowerment intervention.

Laide oversees the entire operations of SOARising UK; from compliance and risk management to the associate program.
